Ok, so Gizmo is a great dog, really, she is. But...she doesn't like strangers. It's actually a real bummer that I couldn't get her out more to see more people at a younger age. My parents had work, I had school, my siblings have jobs. We really didn't have the time to do anything with her. Now we have to pay the price. Although, I have to admit-she HAS gotten better. The first couple of times we have taken her to Petco, she has yapped endless and we couldn't get her to stop. Now that she has been there more, she doesn't bark much. Though, once to close to a stranger, she is barking again.
Trust me, I am working on it, though. Every time I go out and she sees someone knew and doesn't bark, I reward her. I'm also starting hand targeting training, which hopefully will help. Well, I'm praying it works. I also found it on ASPCA's website, so I know there's agood possibilty it will work. Hopefully, the other options they have said will work too. It says your dog might not be stubborn about something, but Gizmo IS a stubborn dog...XDXD Stubborn, saucy, active, playful, and 'tough'. Oh, that reminds me....Story time! ;D
A couple days ago, I had the dogs outsdie while I ate. The table was right by the door, so Icould keep an eye on them easily and make sure nothing happened. They were standing by the door, but it was such a nice day out. The weather has been weird, from being quite chilly to warm. So I left them outsdie for a bit. But before I knew it, I saw Gizmo run and bark a couple times. I jump up, because Spirit wasn't following. I didn't think it could of been something on the ground, because Spirit didn't seem to know what was going on, either. So, when I got outside, I saw Gizmo run to the side of the house and out of view. I looked up and saw a big falcon. He was staggering upward as if he had just dived or was about to and decided the tables had turned, tead of him hunting my dog, my dog hunting him. I was too worried about getting my dog inside to be scared or anxious at the time. I just called Gizmo to me, picked her up, and ran intot he house with Spirit close on my heels. When I got inside, I praised her. Now, hold up a second, praise her? Well, if she didn't bark and run towards that falcon about to dive down and get her, and she wouldn't be woofing for no reason while laying on my pillow in a Playboy bunny shirt. XDXD
